How to use the Spelling Bee solver

  1. Type the centre letter (the yellow one) in the first box.
  2. Type the other six letters in any order.
  3. The answers appear straight away: pangrams first, then every word grouped by length, longest first. Everyday words come before rarer ones in each group.

Tap any word to copy it. Use the gear icon to sort by points or alphabetically.

The rules the solver follows

  • Words have at least four letters.
  • Every word uses the centre letter.
  • Only the seven puzzle letters are allowed, and letters can repeat.
  • The puzzle never uses the letter S, so the solver’s list leaves S words out.
  • Proper nouns, hyphenated words and abbreviations aren’t included.

How points work

A four-letter word scores 1 point. Longer words score 1 point per letter, so a six-letter word is worth 6. A pangram, a word that uses all seven letters at least once, earns 7 extra points. The summary above the answers shows the total for all words and for everyday words only.

Why the solver may list more words than the puzzle accepts

The daily puzzle uses its own hand-picked answer list, which leaves out many obscure words. This solver searches a much bigger dictionary, so it lists everyday words first and rarer ones after. If you’re trying to reach the top rank, the everyday words and the pangrams are the ones that usually count.

Tips for solving without help

  • Look for common endings that fit the letters: -ING, -ED, -ER, -TION.
  • Try the centre letter in every position, not just the start.
  • Find the pangram early: it’s often a longer word built on a common suffix.
  • Double letters are allowed, so words like BALLOON or COFFEE are possible.

Frequently asked questions

Does this show today’s official answers?

No. The solver doesn’t know the daily answer list. It finds every dictionary word that fits your seven letters, which includes the official answers and some extra words.

Why isn’t a word with S listed?

The puzzle never includes S, so the solver’s list is built without S words to stay fast on phones.

Is this affiliated with the New York Times?

No. This is an independent tool and isn’t affiliated with or endorsed by The New York Times Company, which publishes the Spelling Bee puzzle.
